Summer Wildflowers
Blooming time: June, July, and August

Red-spotted Purple butterfly on Bull Thistle

Summertime wildflowers color the fields and roadsides. Most of the woodland flowers have gone to seed or faded and gone dormant by the long, hot days of June. Some flowers can be found blooming near creek banks, trailsides, and in the woods. Summertime brings out the butterfly weed, dasies, black-eyed Susans, and vervain. Be sure and watch for the pollinators that make the plants possible --- the bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
